 Blast Hole Drill Shocksub

The Shocksub Assembly has been developed over many years to act as a shock absorber between the drive head of the Blast Hole Drill and the Drill column. The shocksub element minimises both the vertical and rotary vibrations created during drilling and assists in maintaining the drillbit more uniformly in contact with the formation being drilled. The dampening effect of the shocksub assembly reduces the shock loads and vibrations which are transmitted up the drill column to the drive train of the machine, thereby minimising drill maintenance and gearbox damage.

Advantages when using a Shocksub Assembly

1.  Reduces the amount and amplitude of vibrations transmitted from the drill string to the drive head, resulting in:

    (a)    Less drive head repairs

    (b)    Lower incidence of mainframe fractures

    (c)    Lower general maintenance costs

    (d)    Longer equipment life

2.  The shocksub assembly also compensates for the drill pipe deflections caused by misalignment, resulting in:

    (a)    Less wear on the drill pipe and rotary gearbox

    (b)    Lower incidence of drill pipe bending

    (c)    Better overall drilling performance

    (d)    Lower wear on deck bushing

3.  The shocksub assembly maintains a more constant load on the drillbit and absorbs vertical vibrations and the torsional stresses encountered during normal drilling operations, resulting in:

    (a)    Improved rates of penetration

    (b)    Longer bit life by reducing shock loads and excessive vibrations on the bearing of the bit

    (c)    Better, smoother drilling performance in fractured ground conditions.

    (d)    Can also reduce the incidence of the carbide insert breakage under severe drilling conditions.

When ordering, please specify the following;

1.    Machine make and model.

2.    Hole size being drilled.

3.    O.D. of drillrod.

4.    Top connection details for shocksub.

5.    Bottom connection details for shocksub.

6.    Maximum acceptable length of complete unit.

7.    Breakout slots or flats required on bottom connection of shocksub unit.

PLEASE ENSURE THAT THERE IS SUFFICIENT SWING CLEARANCE TO ACCOMMODATE THE CHOSEN UNIT.
